The State Government has today announced it is pushing ahead with plans to build a new Fire and Rescue station that will service North Lakes/Mango Hill and surrounding areas.

Fire and Emergency Services Minister Mark Ryan said the successful acquisition of a site on Boundary Road marked the beginning of an important expansion of Fire and Rescue resources in the area. 

The new station will be called Moreton Bay Central Fire and Rescue Station.

“Over the last fifteen years we have seen major population growth in North Lakes/Mango Hill and surrounding areas,” Mr Ryan said.

“Building this station is a move that will future-proof our emergency response and ensure the community continues to receive the critical services they deserve.”

Deputy Premier and Member for Murrumba, Steven Miles said that the new Moreton Bay Central Station would bolster emergency responses in the area.

“The new Moreton Bay Central Fire and Rescue Station will service the community in North Lakes/Mango Hill and surrounding areas,” Mr Miles said.

“It’s a big win for these communities to have a dedicated Fire and Rescue Station on their doorstep.”

Member for Bancroft, Chris Whiting said the identified site had been strategically picked to ensure crews could respond quickly to emergencies.

“Over the past decade we’ve recorded an increase in road traffic crashes in the area so access to main thoroughfares including the Bruce Highway was a key consideration when choosing where to build the new station,” Mr Whiting said. 

“This site ticks all the boxes and has the added benefit of being positioned perfectly to support the busy Petrie and Burpengary Fire and Rescue stations.”

Planning works for the site will commence in this financial year following settlement of land.

Construction of the new Moreton Bay Central Fire and Rescue Station will then commence next year.
