Chris Whiting MP says a trial of community batteries at Ipswich could pave the way for the installation of community batteries across Moreton Bay in years to come.
The first of 35 neighbourhood batteries have been installed in streets around Ipswich as part of a $10 million trial conducted by publicly owned Energex and energy retailer Origin.
“We would love to see these new batteries installed in our neighbourhoods in Moreton Bay following this first trial at Ipswich,” said Chris Whiting MP.
“They will be at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution driven by the Palaszczuk Government’s Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
“I am writing to the Energy Minister to ask if Moreton Bay can be the next place where these batteries are installed.
“I know many locals would love to see neighbourhood batteries because they offer increased energy reliability, reduced energy costs, and a cleaner energy supply,” said Chris Whiting MP.
