Chris Whiting MP, Member for Murrumba this morning announced he will be contesting the seat of Bancroft at the next state election.
Bancroft will be composed of the communities in the northern end of the current electorate of Murrumba – Burpengary East, Deception Bay and North Lakes.
“I stand today, at the Bancroft Memorial in Deception Bay, to announce I will be the ALP candidate in the new seat of Bancroft
“I want to keep on representing the communities of Burpengary East, Deception Bay and North Lakes, as well as the parts of Rothwell, Kallangur, Narangba and Morayfield as the first member for Bancroft
“There is still much work to do in this community – we need to keep on building a better community
“Eighteen years ago I first starting knocking on doors in Deception Bay, asking them to vote for me to be their local councillor.
“We have come a long way together since 1999.
“As the first Labor candidate for Bancroft, I will once again bring my values to the job.
“A fair go for everyone – equality of opportunity – tolerance – acceptance – the dignity and sanctity of work – the absolute importance of education and training.
“This new seat needs a Labor member. Only Labor is dedicated to creating jobs and restoring services.
“Only Labor can provide stability for Queensland: we will not be distracted from our focus on jobs.
“Only Labor has delivered for this community
“That includes $32M in funding for new and refurbished local classrooms, 31 extra nurses at Redcliffe Hospital, the Rothwell roundabout – funded, the Boundary Road interchange – funded, and the Redcliffe Rail Line – delivered!
“It will be an honour to keep on serving all the residents of Murrumba – everyone, right up to the day of the election”, said Chris Whiting.
