The Palaszczuk Government has launched the Queensland Government Food and Beverage Supplier Directory so Queensland Government departments, corporations and events ‘Buy Queensland’ first for food and beverages.
The Palaszczuk Government unashamedly gives preference to Queensland businesses through our Buy Queensland initiative.
Buy Queensland means that wherever possible, every dollar that the government spends is backing Queensland jobs.
More local food and drink on Queensland tables means more jobs for Queenslanders in Deception Bay, North Lakes and Burpengary East.
Local brewer Adam Gibb from White Brick Brewing said that they were adding their name to the Food and Beverage Supplier Directory to get better exposure from government events.
“We make the best craft beer here in North Lakes and now the whole of Queensland has the opportunity to taste our produce,” Adam Gibb said.
“Having the State Government purchase our beer gives our business an opportunity to grow and allow us to employ more staff,” said Adam.
Registration for the on-line directory for businesses that supply food and beverage products that are grown in Queensland, made in Queensland or produced in Queensland – depending on the level of Queensland produced use or the level of production – is now open.
To be listed in the directory, suppliers must complete an online application process at www.qld.gov.au/buyqueensland showing they usually grow, make or produce the majority of their goods in Queensland.
Suppliers will also need to demonstrate their workforce is drawn from Queensland.
The directory has multiple categories and suppliers can nominate which ones apply to their business.
An industry Advisory Group ratifies registrations on the director, and the Queensland Procurement Policy Compliance Unit will conduct random audits of suppliers, as well as investigate complaints.
