As part of these reforms, there are more crime prevention and victim assistance initiatives coming.

More assistance for victims of crime.  There is an extra $9M going into assistance of victims of crime (property crime victims who have experienced violence) including $3M to boost counselling.  This was something that the North Lakes community was specifically seeking.

Helping seniors secure their homes.  A new $15 million initiative will be trialled in three locations in Queensland to help senior citizens with the cost of securing their homes.  It will subsidise improvements such as installing CCTV, and strengthening window locks or security screens.

Vehicle immobilisers.  $10 million will be provided for a trial to help subsidise the cost for Queenslanders to install vehicle immobilisers in Cairns, Townsville and Mount Isa.
