There will be more funds for the Queensland Police Service to interrupt offending behaviour of young offenders.
Hi-Vis policing. Police will be funded an extra $34 million for high visibility police patrols and proactive policing, including monitoring what is happening on social media. Hi-vis patrols have already started, as Operation Uniform Theta in December 2022, which resulted in 1,300 arrests, and 2,700 charges from more than 3,200 hotspot patrols.
Extra joint flying squads. $17 million will go to the expansion of a partnership between police and expert youth justice workers to target or support high risk offending youths. The squad will work with agencies such as Queensland Health and the Education department.
