Chris Whiting MP has urged local residents to consider signing up as a tradie or apprentice with QBuild and help build social and affordable housing for Queenslanders.
The Palaszczuk government will be doubling the number of trades-based staff by 2023 leading to the employment of 1,000 new tradies and apprentices by 2026.
“QBuild is our publicly-owned construction company that has a long, proud history of building houses for Queenslanders,” said Chris Whiting MP.
“Yet when last in government, the LNP cut over 1,600 QBuild workers and closed 10 depots.
“And now the Palaszczuk Government is rebuilding Q Build.
“QBuild workers will be at the forefront of building essential social housing and rebuilding Queensland following natural disasters.
“With our own workforce of tradies and apprentices, we can build more housing as part of the largest concentrated investment in social and affordable housing in Queensland’s history.
“QBuild will also be building government employee housing throughout Queensland to house the nurses, teachers and police officers working in regional towns.
“If you know someone who wants to be an apprentice or is already a tradesperson and they want to work for QBuild, tell them to apply,” said Chris Whiting MP.
