Chris Whiting MP has urged all local residents to check and see that they are getting all the state government rebates, discounts and payments they are entitled to receive.
He said pensioners and seniors may be eligible for electricity rebates up to $372.20 a year, savings on rates, water, car and boat registration, or free basic prescription spectacles.
“I don’t need to tell local residents about the cost-of-living pressures we are all facing,” said Chris Whiting MP.
“So I want to remind people that the Palaszczuk Government has a range of concessions and payments that can help you out.
“The Home Assist Secure Program provides Queenslanders over 60, or with a disability, $500 a year to pay for critical maintenance around the house.
“And don’t forget, every residential household in Queensland has got back a total of $575 in rebates on their electricity bill in recent years.
“That is because we own our electricity supply and distribution network in Queensland.
“Pension concession card holders or senior card holders can get a 50 per cent concession on the normal adult fare on public transport services.
“For families, we have free or cheaper kindy, discounted public transport, $295 per student for textbook costs, rental bond loans, free TAFE and a rental security subsidy,” said Chris Whiting.
