“Queensland is leading Australia again through the introduction of the Queensland Strategy for Disaster
Resilience 2022-27,” said Chris Whiting MP.
This five-year strategy focuses on community-informed resilience investment and greater interagency
coordination so communities are best prepared to tackle and recover from natural disasters.
“Queensland is the most disaster impacted state in Australia, but we’re also the most resilient,” said Chris
Whiting.
“Since 2011, Queensland has experienced more than 97 significant natural disasters.
“Commonwealth and State recovery and reconstruction efforts for these disasters has exceeded $20
billion.
“This strategy comes after many years of building disaster resilience in Queensland and our disaster
responses led by the outstanding Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA).
“It will also make resilience ‘business as usual’ for a Queensland that is dealing with the impact of climate
change.
“We want to create a stronger, safer and more resilient state for all Queenslanders and the Queensland
Strategy for Disaster Resilience 2022-27 will help us all do that,” said Chris Whiting MP.
