Nominations for the 2023 My Home Awards for Queensland Housing tenants are now open!
The My Home Awards celebrates Queensland public housing tenants – their connections to home, community and culture and their positive contributions.
“Each year we celebrate the love, care and attention shown by Queensland housing tenants to their property, but now we are celebrating much more than that,’ said Chris Whiting MP.
“We are also celebrating the enormous contributions some housing tenants give to our local communities and to each other.
“The awards are aimed at encouraging tenants to keep active, to connect with their community, and to share their stories and creativity.
“Whether they have a small or large garden, grow vegetables, have potted plants on your balcony, or are involved in a communal garden at your unit complex – there is a category for everyone.
“These categories are House garden, Courtyard garden, Balcony garden, Edible garden, Communal garden, Water-wise garden, and Young gardener.
“And there are “Connections” categories for more prizes.
“A housing tenant could win a prize for a story, poem or photos that tells us about what home means to them, about a good neighbour, or about how they celebrate their culture.
“I really encourage our Housing Queensland tenants to have a look at the My Home Awards and put in an entry about themselves or their neighbours,” said Chris Whiting MP.
Tenants can submit an entry online at My Home Awards 2023 | Homes and housing | Queensland Government (www.qld.gov.au)
Entries are judged by each Housing Service Centre and there are prizes for each category.
Winners receive hardware vouchers valued at $100 for first prize, $50 for runner-up, and $30 for highly commended.
Entries close at 5pm, Friday 1st September 2023 and winners will be announced in November 2023.
