Chris Whiting MP is encouraging local community groups to apply for grant funding for projects that support local women and girls.
The Investing in Queensland Women program offers grants of up to $15,000 for projects that create positive change for women and girls, address inequalities, and promote respect.
“We have many local community groups that are passionate about creating a fairer and safer society for local women and girls,” said Chris Whiting.
“I have been to many local events where these groups are fundraising and raising awareness about issues such as equality of education, and the impact of family and domestic violence.
“I am pleased I can say to these groups that we have a grant program that allows them to initiate projects that can make a difference in women’s lives.
“The Investing in Queensland Women grants program funds projects addressing sexual, domestic, and family violence prevention, and mentoring and leadership opportunities.
“They fund initiatives strengthening healthy relationships, women's health, and career pathways into male-dominated fields.
“I really encourage local groups who want to make life better for local women to have a look at this opportunity and see if they can create a project that makes a difference,” said Chris Whiting MP.
Applications are open until October 20, 2023.
