The latest rounds of funding for two grants programs to help local veterans are now open, said Chris Whiting MP.
Local veterans groups are encouraged to apply for funds through the Anzac Day Trust Grants program and the Veterans’ Health and Wellbeing Research Grants program.
“As we commemorate another Anzac Day, we are focusing on how we look after the veterans living in our communities in North Lakes, Deception Bay and Burpengary East,” said Chris Whiting MP.
“Queensland is home to more than 163,000 current or former veterans - the largest population of veterans in Australia.
“These grants programs honour our veterans and make a real difference to the lives of veterans and their families.
“The Anzac Day Trust Grants program provides a total of $1.5 million to help fund organisations that support the welfare of veterans and their dependants.
“In 2022, more than 180 Queensland organisations shared more than $1.5 million through the Anzac Day Trust.
“This year, it will also be supported by a further $180,000 to assist those organisations with the costs and precautions taken due to COVID-19.
“The Queensland Government’s new Veterans’ Health and Wellbeing Research Grants program will provide a total of $500,000 for eligible organisations to undertake research on issues that affect the wellbeing of veterans and their families.
“The Palaszczuk Government is rightly proud to support our veterans who have given so much and made so many sacrifices on behalf of Australia.
“I encourage all Queenslanders to come together as one on ANZAC Day to remember those who have served,” said Chris Whiting.
