Chris Whiting MP is pushing for a new state primary school in Burpengary East and is asking local residents to pitch in and help.
Chris Whiting has started an on line petition at www.chriswhiting.com.au calling on Education Queensland to secure the land and start the process to establish a new state primary school in Burpengary East.
“I want all residents to sign the petition and together we’ll build up an irresistible case to build a school in Burpengary East.
“They can go to the Home page at www.chriswhiting.com.au or sign the printed petition as I take it door-to-door over the next month in Burpengary East.
“Our community is one of the fastest-growing in the Moreton Bay region and the growth of the North Harbour development means hundreds of new families and thousands of school-aged children will move into our area.
“Delivering the best education and creating the best schools is hugely important to local residents, and is a huge priority for me.
“The Palaszczuk Government opened eight new schools in Queensland today, including the Mango Hill State Secondary College that I helped get started.
“My first step in the Burpengary East campaign is to secure the land for a new school. North Harbour been very helpful in helping identify possible options for a school site.
“I have been working on the case for new school for a while and the time has come to launch a big public push,” said Chris Whiting.
“When I first became the local MP there was no recognition of the population growth about to happen in Burpengary.
“After my lobbying Education Queensland and the Moreton Bay Regional Council assessed the growth potential of the area and revised their population projections for Burpengary East,” said Chris Whiting.
