"Local-based businesses have a golden opportunity to be part of a $180 billion procurement spend in the run-up to Brisbane 2032," said Chris Whiting MP.
The Queensland Government spends around $20 billion each year on goods and services and the Buy Queensland procurement strategy supports Queensland businesses to win more government work.
“Since it started in 2017, Buy Queensland has delivered nearly $57 billion of government spending to 70,000 Queensland-based businesses,” said Chris Whiting MP.
“And now we have the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games happening in our area.
“The Brisbane 2032 Games is a significant economic opportunity for local and Queensland businesses.
“Queensland businesses will be needed to deliver the construction, professional services, catering, flooring, bus rentals, security, furniture, sporting, IT, fitness and audio-visual equipment we need for the 2032 Games.
“How do we prepare businesses that want to supply Brisbane 2032?
“We will develop a ‘MyGamesPlan’ tool for businesses to test their preparedness for getting government contracts.
“There will be Q2032 Small Business Procurement Advisors to prepare businesses for pre-procurement processes.
“There will be a new, easier to use Q-Tender platform that will publish current opportunities and a forward pipeline of future opportunities.
“And there will be regional Games Procurement Roadshows to provide information and advice.
“The most important thing for local businesses to do is go to the Q2032 website to find out more information and register for Q2032 Procurement updates.
“I strongly encourage all interested local businesses to register on QTenders, the Queensland Government’s tendering website,” said Chris Whiting MP.
Queensland-based businesses are urged to ensure they are Games-ready by registering for supply opportunity updates and following a three-step game plan: Ready, Set, Go! at qld.gov.au/about/Brisbane2032.
