The Buy Queensland Awards will give “well-deserved recognition” to local businesses supplying the Queensland Government, said Chris Whiting MP.
Since the Palaszczuk Government introduced a new procurement approach in 2017, more than 55,300 Queensland-registered businesses have supplied goods and services worth around $33 billion to government, said Chris Whiting.
“The Buy Queensland Awards gives us the opportunity to celebrate all those businesses who reap the benefits of our procurement targets,” said Chris Whiting.
“Our Buy Queensland approach is a success because of the genuine opportunities it is delivering for Queensland businesses.
“Our target is to source at least 25 per cent of Queensland government procurement by value from Queensland small and medium enterprises.
“We also now require the use of local contractors and manufacturers in significant Queensland Government infrastructure projects.
“Buy Queensland means we are supporting local businesses and supporting local jobs, and we want to give well-deserved recognition to those businesses that are working with us,” said Chris Whiting.

Queensland businesses are encouraged to nominate if they currently have, or have had, contracts to work with the Palaszczuk Government since September 2017.
