“An increase in the electric vehicle rebate for Queenslanders will make it more attractive for locals to buy an EV,” said Chris Whiting MP.
New eligibility requirements and an increased rebate from the Queensland Government could see eligible households get a $6,000 rebate when purchasing a new EV.
“Many local families in Bancroft have either bought an electric vehicle or want to buy one in the future,” said Chris Whiting MP.
“The Palaszczuk Government is now making electric vehicles more affordable so we can help out families, slash emissions and act on climate change.
“Around 75% of the average household energy bill is spent on car fuel.
“This is why we’re announcing this expanded rebate to help hard working Queenslanders!
“EVs are cheaper, cleaner, and more secure to run, and we want to help more Queensland families save more money for years to come.
“So we’re increasing the rebate from $3,000 to $6,000 for eligible households earning up to a gross household income of $180,000 per year.
“If you already received a $3,000 rebate under the earlier scheme and are under the income threshold, you can apply for the additional $3,000 rebate.
“We’re doubling the number of EV models available to Queenslanders in our rebate scheme.
“By the end of the year an anticipated 19 EV models will be available under this new price cap.
“We’re increasing the eligibility threshold for vehicles from $58,000 to $68,000, including GST.
“And we will exclude dealer delivery fees from determining ‘dutiable value’”, said Chris Whiting MP.
