“Skilling Queenslanders for Work has been incredibly successful in Deception Bay and is at the forefront in getting local people into work and training,” said Chris Whiting MP.

“Getting jobs for residents in Deception Bay, North Lakes and Burpengary East is the top priority for me and we’re doing that with the Skilling Queenslanders for Work projects I have secured.

“In this round, $540,000 has gone to two very successful and proven local organisations to deliver three programs for 143 local participants.

“Deception Bay Community Youth Programs will run two ‘Local Pathways Into Work’ projects that will assist 64 locals get either a Certificate III in Individual Support or a Certificate I in Hospitality.

“Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre will deliver a ‘Job Ready’ project that will allow 79 residents to obtain a Certificate III in either Hospitality, Individual Support, Early Childhood Education or Logistics.

“Since 2015, the Palaszczuk Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work program has assisted more than 24,000 Queenslanders to get a job.

“What’s more, 73% of SQW participants get a job or go into further training within 12 months of SQW training
