"A new meningococcal vaccination program for Queensland families will have a massive impact on the future health for all Queensland children," said Chris Whiting MP.
The Queensland Government is making the meningococcal B (MenB) vaccine FREE for infants, children under the age of two, and adolescents aged 15 to 19 years from 2024.
“This is the single biggest investment in a state-funded vaccination program in Queensland’s history,” said Chris Whiting MP.
“The MenB vaccination program will be delivered through Queensland Health registered vaccine service providers.
“That includes general practitioners, community vaccination clinics, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Services.
“For secondary school students in Year 10, the meningococcal B vaccine will form part of Queensland’s School Immunisation Program.
“The Queensland Meningococcal B Immunisation Program will have an initial investment of more than $90 million over three years.
“This is a really important initiative for local families because MenB can cause significant illness, disability and even death,” said Chris Whiting MP.
