Call-Out to Local Businesses to be Olympic Suppliers

By Chris Whiting

07 September 2021

The Palaszczuk Government has launched a supplier gateway for local businesses who want to be involved in the journey to the Olympics in 2032.

From Monday 6 September, businesses can register their details on the Brisbane 2032  website to receive future updates about procurement opportunities for the Games.

“The 2032 Games will create 91,600 jobs and billions of dollars of new investment for Queensland,” said Chris Whiting MP

“It will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many businesses in Bancroft and across Queensland to set them up for years afterwards.

“We’ll approach this opportunity with our Buy Queensland approach to make sure we are backing Queenslanders all the way.

“Buy Queensland means preference will be given to those businesses with a presence in Queensland, and are creating local jobs.

“That means putting Queensland tradies first in the construction of Games venues, Queensland engineers first in major infrastructure projects and Queensland farmers and producers first in serving up local food and beverages.

“Our Buy Queensland approach has already benefited Queensland businesses to the tune of around $36 billion since it was introduced in 2017.

“Businesses who register on the Brisbane 2032 website will be the first to find out about these opportunities as they’re made available,” said Chris Whiting.

The Palaszczuk Government will also launch a statewide roadshow tomorrow to help businesses be ‘tender ready’ for future procurement opportunities.

Morayfield is one the locations planned to host a Growing Queensland Business Roadshow.
