Contract Awarded for Bruce Highway, Dohles Rocks Rd Upgrade

Contract Awarded for Bruce Highway, Dohles Rocks Rd Upgrade Main Image

By Chris Whiting

03 February 2025

Construction is a step closer to installing new extended north-facing ramps at Dohles Rocks Road following the award of main construction contract to Albem Operations Pty Ltd and SCQ Pty Ltd Joint Venture.

Early works have been underway on the project since June 2024. Main construction will follow in the coming months upon completion of these early works.

The Bruce Highway, Dohles Rocks Rd to Anzac Ave (BDA) upgrade forms part of integrated planning undertaken for the Gateway Motorway and Bruce Highway Upgrades (GMBHU) to provide a whole-of-network solution to manage increasing traffic volumes in the north Brisbane and Moreton Bay regions.

Future upgrades to the Bruce Highway between Dohles Rocks Road and Anzac Avenue will involve constructing collector-distributor roads on both sides of the highway, as well as upgrades to the Anzac Avenue interchange. These future stages are currently unfunded and timing will depend on future funding and competing priorities.

Stage 1 will deliver:

  • a new northbound entry ramp from Dohles Rocks Road to the Bruce Highway, extending up to Anzac Avenue interchange exit ramp as an auxiliary lane on the highway
  • a new southbound exit ramp from the Bruce Highway to Dohles Rocks Road, extending from Anzac Avenue interchange entry ramp as an auxiliary lane on the highway
  • new ramp metering signals on the northbound entry ramp to manage traffic entering the highway
  • upgrades to the existing signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new northbound entry ramp
  • a new signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new southbound exit ramp
  • modifications to the existing signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to close access to Goodrich Road East and allow for the new southbound exit ramp (access to Goodrich Road East will be available via Silvereye Drive intersection with Dohles Rocks Road)
  • new noise barriers and upgrades to existing noise barriers
