More Police and Mobile Police Beats Coming to Our Streets Under Labor

ChrisAdmin Uncategorized

Local residents can expect to see more police be based at local police stations under a re-elected Palaszczuk Government, said Chris Whiting MP.

150 more police personnel will be coming to North Coast Region which includes Moreton Bay.

“This local surge in police numbers will be part of an increase of 2,025 police personnel over 5 years across the State under a Palaszczuk Government”, said Chris Whiting MP.”

“This surge in police numbers has been described as the largest growth in a generation by the Police Commissioner and the QPU President said he’s never seen a commitment like this in 31 years.”

“Allocation of where police numbers go and the boundaries of QPS Regions are a matter for the Commissioner to decide.”

“Across the State an extra 1,450 sworn police officers will be deployed to the frontline”

“I am really excited to hear that 125 police liaison officers and school-based police support officers will be deployed across priority areas, something I have been chasing for a while.”

“Another innovation will be our new 25 mobile police beats.

“Our police have a borderless policing philosophy and these new mobile police beats will allow them to be more agile and better serve the community.”

“Locals will see their police more often on active patrols.”

“From these mobile police beats, officers will be able to take crime reports, victims’ statements and conduct field interviews.”

“Compare that to the LNP who sacked more than 300 police personnel including 110 senior police.

“They cut police training, reduced firearms training, and forced police to pay for their own body worn video cameras.

“They even cut the monitoring of more than 1,700 sex offenders.

“The only promise the LNP has made is that local stations will be 24 hours – which they already are!”

“Officers today are working out of Deception Bay and Mango Hill North Lakes Stations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

“It is an insult to suggest that they’re not working their shifts each and every night.”

“The new positions under a re-elected Palaszczuk Government will be fully funded and fully resourced.”

“And there is an extra $77 million for more vehicles, body-worn cameras and new ballistic vests,” said Chris Whiting MP.
