Local Homes To Shine In The 2018 My Home Awards
Local public housing tenants have a chance to make their homes and gardens shine in this this year’s My Home Awards.
The My Home Awards recognise the gardening skills of public housing tenants, whether they have a backyard, balcony, or a communal garden.
“The My Home Awards recognises the pride and time that public housing tenants take in caring for their gardens, and also aims to encourage tenants to participate in their local community,” Mr Whiting said.
“We want our best gardeners to show just how proud they are of their gardens and their houses, and show the rest of the community just what they can accomplish in Queensland Housing properties.
“This year’s awards features eight categories – House Garden, Edible/Bush Tucker Garden, Courtyard Garden, Balcony Garden, Water-wise Garden, New Gardener, Children’s Garden and Communal Garden.
“There is a category to suit every gardener, even if this is your first time planting a few flowers or vegies in your backyard, or pots on your balcony.
Entries close on Friday, 24 August, 2018, with judging to occur in September and October.
“I look forward to seeing the many gardens cultivated across the Bancroft electorate as spring blooms,” Mr Whiting said.
Prize winners will receive vouchers or hampers to the value of $80 for first prize, $50 for runner up and $30 for highly commended.
