Local Government Elections
As a former councillor of 12 years standing, I get a lot of questions about the current local government elections, especially on candidates and issues.
My answer to these questions has been: carefully examine the issues, and what the candidates say.
A lot of people are very engaged with this election, and I have had a few delegations come to see me.
I have met delegations from the Local Government Reform Association, the Rate Payers Action Group, Your Community First, local government candidates with local government union representatives, and local government candidates who are members of the ALP and the LNP.
All of whom wanted to discuss local issues relating to my area.
I have also met with the Mayor in my office to discuss local government matters.
These discussions covered a wide range of issues, all related to building a better community for my constituents, and there has been no discussion of campaign organisation or finances.
I am not involved in running any local government campaigns – these candidates run their own races – and no resources from my office have been used for local government elections.
Good luck to all the candidates running in the MBRC elections!
