Today I welcome a state government partnership which offers a free year of playgroup for our youngest Queenslanders.
From 1 July 2016, parents simply need to register before their child’s first birthday to receive a free 12 month membership with Playgroup Queensland.
“This membership offer allows families access to Playgroup Queensland-affiliated playgroups,”
“Playgroups offer a wide variety of quality experiences that support young children’s learning and development through play.
“I encourage Murrumba’s parents to take advantage of this great opportunity to have their children engaged in social activities from the earliest possible age and to build their own networks with other parents of babies and young children.”
Education Minister Kate Jones said a child’s early learning experiences were crucial to their long term development.
“We know children need loving relationships and a stimulating environment to thrive,” Ms Jones said.
“The state government’s five-year partnership with peak body Playgroup Queensland means our youngest Queenslanders can now reap the lifelong benefits playgroups provide.”
Ms Jones said the move was part of the government’s commitment to create opportunities for all children to access quality early years experiences, regardless of their circumstances or where they live.
