Don’t drink and drive, plan a Lift Legend this festive season
I am calling on locals in North Lakes, Deception Bay and Burpengary East to become a “Lift Legend” over the Christmas New Year holiday.
The Lift Legend campaign from the Palaszczuk Government aims to halt drink driving over the festive season by encouraging Queenslanders to plan ahead and organise a Lift Legend.
Lift Legends will be the silent heroes of the festive season as they get people safely home after a big night out.
Everyone needs a Lift Legend this festive season.
A Lift Legend can be a friend, loved one, colleague, the local bus or cab driver.
They’re someone you can rely on to get you home safely after a night out.
The campaign has taken a light-hearted approach to deliver a serious message.
Many of us know the dangers of drink driving but many continue to drink and drive.
On average, 55 people are killed and 550 seriously injured each year on Queensland roads because of drink driving.
These aren’t just statistics, they’re children, parents, friends, and loved ones.
The Lift Legend campaign followed last year’s successful ‘Plan B’ drink driving campaign which offered simple solutions to avoid drink driving.
The campaign also provides a practical Queensland-wide solution for those who are planning to drink as well as those who find themselves caught out in the moment of drinking.
The campaign will run over the Christmas New Year holiday period through to Australia Day.
The Queensland Government is also again teaming up with Queensland Cricket to promote the ‘#LiftLegend’ message to audiences at Big Bash games this summer.
