Boundary Road Overpass Upgrade Opens Six Months Early
The $100.4 million upgrade to the Boundary Road Interchange on the Bruce Highway is finished and open to traffic – six months ahead of schedule!
I was proud to join with Shane King MP, Member for Kallangur and Acting Main Roads Minister, Steven Miles to celebrate the early completion of the new interchange. This is great news for local residents and businesses, as well as other drivers using the Bruce Highway.
This upgrade was one of the biggest road projects in our fast growing region.
Locals will benefit so much from this, and they have told me that they are impressed by how the team from Main Roads have delivered it so quickly.
The original two lane bridge had served our community for over 40 years, before it was demolished earlier this year. The new six lane bridge has transformed the area for the growing community by allowing traffic to move through the more quickly – benefitting commuters, cyclists, pedestrians and businesses.
The new interchange features longer on and off-ramps, to improve safety for cars entering and exiting the highway, as well as a separate shared user path to help pedestrians and cyclists safely navigate the interchange. All of these features will significantly improve safety, ease congestion and cater for traffic growth in years to come.
The project was jointly funded by the Federal and State Governments.
