To anyone in our local area it has been clear for a long time that the bridge over the Bruce Hwy on Bounday Rd has not been up to the task. During the campaign and since getting in to government I have been lobbying for an upgrade of the bridge.
I was thrilled to recently be able to announce, along with Shane King MP – Member for Kallangur, that along with our partners in the Federal Government we have been able to secure funding to get a new 6 lane bridge constructed on Boundary Rd.
These funds will see a new six-lane bridge constructed, with 4 through lanes for Boundary Rd traffic and dedicated left-slip lanes to provide free flowing access to the Bruce Hwy on-ramps, meeting the needs of motorists in this rapidly growing area.
The project will create 160 jobs for workers during the life of the project. Funding has been secured in an 80-20 split between the Federal and State governments, with the Federal Government committing $84 million and the Queensland State government making up the remaining $21 million.
This upgrade will be funded without the need to sell our assets, unlike the proposal made by the previous government, during the election campaign.
