Has your organisation got a great idea for a multicultural event in Deception Bay, North Lakes or Burpengary East? Chris Whiting wants you to take the leap and make it happen!

Applications for funds from the $1.4 million Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program are now open for events that celebrate cultural diversity and promote cross-cultural understanding.

We’re quite a special and diverse mob here in Queensland.

Our State is home to people from 220 different countries who speak more than 180 languages and identify with over 110 different faiths.

Connectedness and community participation play an important role in helping to build a united, harmonious and inclusive Queensland.

In 2019, more than 150 events are sharing in funding through the Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program.

In 2020 I want to see local eligible event organisers, groups, associations and councils to submit applications for funding to help bring their celebrations to the communities.

The Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program is an annual program that provides funding towards multicultural events and projects that engage people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

This includes people who arrived in Australia as migrants or refugees, people seeking asylum, members of diverse cultural groups and the wider community to contribute to building a united, harmonious and inclusive Queensland.

Applications can be submitted online through SmartyGrants until 29 July 2019. For more information: www.dlgrma.qld.gov.au/cmq-program
